This class will focus on homebuyer and seller concerns about the development and cost of energy efficiency, and the value of “green” features in the purchase and resale of homes. By the end of class, you will:

  • Recognize common aspects of energy use and efficiency when working with buyers and sellers and be better prepared to assist with information and resources.
  • Identify best practices for real estate professionals when encountering green/energy related features when selling or listing a property and what needs to be disclosed.
  • Describe resources and financial products available to assist buyers with renovation and retro fitting a home for energy efficiency, discuss additional costs and developmental requirements, how a home can be affected.
  • Determine the value of green features added to a property when working with an appraiser to better assist the buyer or seller.
