Town Council of Cave Creek Revises Sign Ordinance

By March 17, 2020November 14th, 2022No Comments

On January 21, the Town Council of Cave Creek adopted Ordinance O2019-02, a revision of its Zoning and Chapter 9 Signage Ordinances that went into effect on February 20, 2020.1

The Scottsdale Area Association of REALTORS® (SAAR) Government Affairs Committee closely monitored and weighed in on proposed ordinance revisions by:

  • Communicating with REALTOR® Champions on the Cave Creek Town Council;
  • Attending and speaking at Town work study sessions and Council meetings;
  • Providing comment and support materials to Town staff and Council members;
  • Meeting directly with the Town Manager, Planning Director and legal counsel.

Association efforts pay off
SAAR was able to identify a means to not extend a cumbersome permitting process, quantity and duration of display restrictions throughout the entire community.

What does this mean for REALTORS® in Cave Creek?
It means that there are NO CHANGES to how you do business, UNLESS you are posting signs in a commercial zone or in the right-of-way along Cave Creek Road and Carefree Highway.

What is the process for signs now requiring a permit?
A new permit application form was released on March 3, 2020. However, fees are not going to be collected until an associated fee schedule is adopted by Town Council.

Since the new revision has been approved and placed into effect, SAAR continues to work with the Town of Cave Creek to resolve the new fee schedule and provide input for establishing and improving the application process.
