The Scottsdale REALTORS® association has donated $10,000 to the national REALTORS® Relief Foundation which provides housing-related assistance to communities impacted by disasters, including damage inflicted by a record-breaking 2024 hurricane season.
“Rafael was the 11th hurricane of the season,” said Scottsdale REALTORS® 2024 President Peggy Neely. “It was also the fifth major hurricane this year.” Last month, Hurricane Milton hit the U.S. as a Category 3 storm and went on to claim 35 lives and cause billions of dollars in housing losses and damage.
The REALTORS® Relief Foundation responds to major disasters, from hurricanes and tornadoes to wildfires and earthquakes. So far this year, the foundation has awarded more than $13.7M to help disaster victims meet short-term housing needs.
“This is not the first time we’ve helped with relief efforts,” added CEO Rebecca Grossman. “Our association contributes on local, state and national levels.” In addition to donating to the REALTORS® Relief Foundation, Scottsdale REALTORS® supports the Arizona Association of REALTORS® Disaster Assistance Foundation as well as its own member fund.
The Scottsdale association’s Member Relief Fund provides assistance to eligible members and staff who experience a crisis or catastrophic event and are unable to meet their financial obligations. More at www.scottsdalerealtors.org/mrf.
