Courtroom delays are past and now Sandor Development has a green light to proceed with a proposed 316-unit apartment complex near Shea and Saguaro boulevards.

A zoning referendum drive aimed at calling a public vote for the project was halted by a judge’s ruling that the town acted within the law when petitions were invalidated for failing to comply with the form of the petitions.

The political committee Reclaim Our Town (ROT), which started the referendum drive did not move to appeal the judgment, and the window for a challenge has passed.

Development Services Director John Wesley said staff is moving ahead to record the approved PADs (Planned Area Developments) for the plaza redevelopment. Wesley said he does not know when Sandor will take the next step in the process.
