The Fountain Hills Town Council voted unanimously to direct staff to proceed to sell town-owned property in the 16500 block of E. Ashbrook Drive.

While the current area has no restrictions, the council directed staff to replat the roughly 38,000-square-foot area for single-family homes. Town Development Services Director John Welsey said the current zoning in the surrounding plats allow for duplexes and single-family homes and two-story homes are acceptable.

Wesley added that the town has not yet received an appraisal.

Councilmember Brenda Kalivianaki and now Vice Mayor Gayle Earle opposed the sale of the property while Councilmembers Rick Watts and Hannah Larrabee were hesitant when the council visited the sale in December 2025.

Ashbrook is a local residential street that sees roughly 500 vehicles per day with a capacity of 2,000 per day, Welsey said. The addition of five to 10 homes on the property would not make a significant impact on traffic.
