The billion dollar mixed use development known as The Parque will become a reality.

The Scottsdale City Council voted 5-2 during its regularly scheduled meeting Nov. 13 to rezone the 32.29 acre site in the Scottsdale Airpark to allow for the project.

Located at 16001 N. Scottsdale Road, the site is the former home of the now defunct Crackerjax entertainment park.

When completed, the development will include 1,182 dwelling units (10% of which will be workforce housing for 10 years); a 140-key, five-star hotel and 253,000 square feet of commercial space, which supporters believe will become a hub for tech companies.

It will include 13 buildings with four bicycle stations and a two-acre park in the middle of it.

Likewise, it will include a storm water system to recharge the aquifer with 4.9 million gallons per year. The project also includes planting 1,036 trees on and off site.

Construction will begin as soon as possible, according to John Berry, an attorney for Developer George Kurtz, a cyber security developer.

Kurtz will also pay approximately $16.3 million for development bonuses for about 1.1 million square feet of additional space and allowing one building to be raised above the 84 foot-base height to 117 feet.
