The Fountain Hills Town Council approved (6-1) a special use permit for a mixed-use development during its meeting Tuesday, Nov. 18.
Vice Mayor Allen Skillicorn was the dissenting vote.
The Fountain Hills Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously approved the proposal to go before the council during its October meeting.
The three-story mixed-use development along the Avenue of Fountains and west of Verde River Drive holds six for-sale residential units with three commercial units on the ground floor. Each residential unit is two floors and around 3,160 square feet, and each commercial suite will be roughly 950 square feet, town senior planner Farhad Tavassoli said.
There will be six private two-car residential garages with access along Tract 208 with access to elevators to the units. There will be shared on-street parking for commercial use. The structure is 44 feet high, including elevator overrun.
Tavassoli said the proposed development aligns with the town’s general plan and downtown vision.
