The Cave Creek Town Council will consider working with the Desert Foothills Regional Transit System in finalizing details for a grant-funded regional transit program that will benefit residents of Cave Creek and Carefree at the town council meeting Tuesday night.
Town Mayor Robert Morris, Public Works Director Hal Marron and Town Manager Grady Miller met with the board of directors of the Desert Foothills Regional Transit System, a non-profit organization, in December to inform the town on a proposed transit system that would serve residents and visitors of Cave Creek and Carefree.
The board will present its proposed transit system to the council. While there is still a lot of work to do on the proposal, Cave Creek will be asked to provide preliminary support for the project.
The Desert Foothills Transit System is aware of transit-related grants and plans to apply for a federal or state grant to fund the purchase of vehicles and operating costs for the service.
