Real estate attorneys and homebuilders are applauding zoning ordinance changes adopted by the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors.
The board voted unanimously Dec. 10 to approve significant updates to the decades-old ordinance.
One of the key changes to the Maricopa County Zoning Ordinance removes the “plan of development” requirement for smaller multifamily residential projects, which now will be allowed to proceed directly to the building permit process.
The new ordinance also eliminates various restrictions in single-family residential zoning, Rural-43 zoning and industrial zoning districts.
It removes 53 pages and nearly 15,000 words from the original document.
