Scottsdale City council has approved two new agreements for charging stations of electric vehicles — making it possible to charge your EV when traversing across the municipality.

These newly approved agreements are a part of the city’s multisite pilot program with Arizona Public Service Company. The project entails that APS is responsible for installing new electrical facilities at different sites.

The two charging points would be located at different locations: ClipperCreek at 9191 E. San Salvador Drive and ChargePoint at One Civic Center on E. Indian School Road. Both would be available for public use.

The exact locations are still to be finalized after APS runs an analysis of each facility site, city officials say.

Both APS and the city have worked to make sure that the construction of these sites does not greatly impact or interfere with the city’s use of these locations.

With the agreements now approved, APS may now begin the process of installing these stations. In order to begin the process, the company will run an initial site analysis to determine what is necessary to complete the project and whether the project can be completed in the allocated location from the city.

After that is approved, APS can seek out the necessary permitting and inspections so that they can begin the installation process.
